About The Farmer’s Arms
Grizedale Arts’ relaunch of this historic inn on the edge of the Lake District began in 2021. We reimagined the neglected site as ‘an inn for the 21st century’ and a lockdown fundraising campaign to save the pub from dereliction attracted community investors and donors from around the world to join the purchase. We now offer a restaurant & bar, café, outdoor wood-fired pizza oven, shop and holiday accommodation alongside community events and diverse arts, education and volunteering opportunities.

We have a growing reputation for good food and drink, using many local suppliers and a distinctively seasonal approach to our menus.

About Our Resources
The inn’s kitchen serves the Café and Stable Bar menus. You’ll work alongside our chef and staff to deliver the core service and, depending on experience, will be invited to develop fresh ideas for menus that can draw on produce from the locale. From local gardens there is soft fruit, vegetables, herbs and rarities such as wasabi and other Japanese vegetables. We have established relationships with local producers of Cumbria’s best cheese, venison, beef, pork, lamb and seafood, a brand-new off grid cold store and fermentation lab, a mobile white room and the opportunity to learn whole animal butchery. In house gardening expertise includes Head of Veg Matt Turnbull, who grows produce across four garden sites along the Crake Valley. We also employ a resident potter and a woodworker who work in collaboration with the kitchen on the design of everything from plates to tables.
