Following a successful campaign which raised over £335,000 in donations and social investment, Grizedale Arts and the local community purchased The Farmer's Arms in spring 2021.

After years of neglect, the inn is now being transformed into a creative and industrious hub. Grizedale Arts’ staff are working with crafts people, designers, artists and local businesses and volunteers to refurbish the bar, lounge and gardens (including a wood-fired pizza oven) for re-opening in late summer 2021. An Honest Shop is already open at the inn, selling local baking, crafts and collectibles and outdoor events are underway.

We are excited to offer holiday self-catering accommodation now in The Farmer’s Loft.
A programme of workshops including The Farmer’s Arms Garden School and a monthly Pottery Class are underway, using on-site workshops and offering open-access to community and members to make, repurpose and repair.
