OUR SAMPLE MENU

Our home made cakes and organic coffee are served throughout the day

MENU (all of the day and all of the night)

 

White or brown toast, Farmer’s marmalade (V) £3 Kick start your day with a shot of zesty homemade marmalade (Silver award last year at the Dalmain marmalade olympics)

Ruskin’s Vegetable Soup (VG) £6 With Farmer’s Arms focaccia, croutons and pumpkin seeds. All you really need for the day (as recommended by John Ruskin) a collection of different vegetables all muddled up, but kinda good.

The McM*ffin £8.50 A fried egg, Cumberland patty and secret sauce on a Farmer’s Arms bun.

Scrambled eggs & mushrooms (VG) £7 On toast – simple and surprisingly good in case you forgot that simple is good

Irving’s Bacon or/and egg Bun £6.00 Talking of plain – it’s Roadhouse time

Sausage Roll £4.50 A disturbingly large sausage roll available hot or cold, spicy and plain. Ideal with chips or soup

Chips (VG) £5.00 (with Horseradish mayonaise, tomato ketchup, dijon mustard, cheese or plain) Everyone says our chips are amazing, we don’t know why, we just hand cut and fry them twice, first at 180c then at 170c with a 30 minute interval between each fry (is that taking too much trouble)?

Beef burger and chips £14 Salad and pickles, simple and classic

Beef and game vegetable pie £15 Irving’s beef in a rich sauce, with chips

Vegetable pie, pastry topping (VG) £12 With chips

Ham egg and chips £15 This has been on the pub menu since the 1930’s in fact Ham and eggs was the only thing you could order!

Fish and chips £15 or half size £10 Breaded haddock for extra crispyness. Mushy pease, homemade tartare and the ubiquitous wedge

Bibimbap, rice and vegetables (V) £12 With a fried egg and kimchi – Korean Roadhouse

Sandwiches Open Valley sandwich of the day £8 Roast beef with appropriate pickles and dressings, salad of the day

Cheese Sandwich (V) £7 With chutney and salad of the day

Croque Monsieur and salad £9 with mustard, white sauce and ham Its a grilled sandwich (add an egg for Croque Madame)

Croque Jardin and salad (V) £9 with mustard, leaks in white sauce and cheese (add an egg for Croque Enfant)!

Carlin Pea Falafel and salad (VG) £9 with chick pea houmous, roast vegetables, homemade pickles, tahini and chilli sauce. An English take on a middle eastern classic

Farmer’s Arms Focaccia (VG) £3.50 with oil and beer vinegar We go to huge efforts to make this every morning, best before noon but passable all day.

PUDDINGS

Sticky Toffee Pudding (V) £8 With whisky sauce and crème fraîche Local classic, ours is a particularly good version

Burnt Basque Cheesecake (V) £7 with valley damson coulis

Ice cream £3 per scoop Served with a palmier biscuit Vanilla, caramel, chocolate

Ice Cream Sundae £8 Two scoops of ice cream and chef’s choice of bits and pieces, merengue, nuts etc.

Stilton and biscuits with port £8 Cut from a whole stilton, no fuss, just good. With homemade biscuits and damson membrillo
