Join us in our workshops at the Farmers Arms for a afternoon workshop to decorate your own large mug or tankard using the traditional techniques of Mocha ware and sprig mould decoration.

Mocha ware tankards were termed as ‘people’s pottery’ and were in general use in British pubs from the late 18th century up until the 1950s and much beloved by George Orwell! They were traditionally used for beer but equally good for a large brew.

As part of this workshop you will discover the fascinating history of the mocha ware tankard and be provided with a pre thrown mug to decorate. We will fire these in our kiln and they can be picked up in time for Christmas.

You don’t need any previous skills in ceramics to attend this workshop, just come along to our workshops and everything will be provided.
