Are you struggling for super-fun and all-occupying ideas for the kids in half-term? Look no further and let off some creative steam this February half-term with our pottery and pasta workshops, ‘Zappy Meals’, games and quizzes.
Drop-in cooking workshops with Adam Sutherland (Wednesday 11am to 3pm)
Making, rolling, stuffing and eating pasta (or takeaway)
This workshop leads to lunch for one or more
Drop-in for 30 minutes of activity
£10 per lunch made
Drop-in clay animals workshop (Thursday and Friday 10am – 4pm)
A pottery workshop with Jocelyn McGregor (Cumbria best artist) and Tom Phillipson (Cumbria’s most inventive maker) making animals in clay for a model farmyard to be exhibited at The Farmer’s Arms. We’ll use the work of Peter Hodgson as inspiration alongside other animals that can be found at the café and pub, in the furniture, pictures and for real (Bailey the one-eyed pub cat and the very many dog visitors).
10 – 30 minute activity
Free workshop if you leave your animal for the display or £10 charge if you want your effort glazed and collected by you
Games and quizzes
Occupy the observant child for up to 30 minutes, available from the café and bar. You never know, maybe this could be the start of a lifetimes interest in art, nature and antiques!
Free on request – prizes for correct answers!
Zappy Meals
Inspired by the deeply inspirational McDonald’s Happy Meal, the Zappy Meal is Lowick’s own take on making children happy – a boxed child-friendly meal and the all-important small unexpected gift.
Children and adults can feel free to do a combination of things, so you could begin with the quiz sheet, fuel up on the Zappy Meal and then make clay animal, full engagement from 12am to 2pm (or 12.10am depending on concentration). Alternatively, we also offer the ever popular ‘run round the fields screaming’ for all ages.
