Make yourself a beautiful hand sewn patchwork cushion with experienced sewing teacher, Jean Povey.

During this day long course, you’ll learn how to use paper templates to cut and sew fabric hexagons into patchwork patterns, tacking the fabric onto the templates and hand stitching them together. Jean will take you through the process step by step, teaching you how to construct a cushion cover either by hand or using a sewing machine. By the end of the day you’ll be well on your way (or completed) with your own unique cushion cover.

The only skill you need is the ability to do small hand stitches – Jean will teach you everything else you need to know. All materials are provided, apart from the cushion to stuff inside your cover. If you have fabrics you might like to use, or a favourite pair of fabric scissors, you are welcome to bring them along with you.

About the Tutor:

Having loved sewing when at school, Jean trained as a needlework teacher. Three years later, she found herself teaching English in remote  off-grid places. During this time, Jean purchased a few small pieces of cloth in Nairobi intending to cover a cushion. This was the start of a long relationship with patchwork making many cushion covers and going on to bigger projects including a double bed spread for her brothers wedding present. Patchwork is addictive.

Jean has attended or run hundreds of sewing classes and workshops over 50 years but she also always has a project on the go.
