Join experienced stone waller Peter Drake for this two day course in traditional dry stone wall construction using only a few hand tools and no cement or mortar.
Dry stone walls are synonymous with the Lake District landscape but many people don’t know this historically important heritage craft also forms part of the area’s environmental history, offering a haven to wildlife, lichen and animals sheltering from the weather for centuries. Exploring the importance of stone walls in our local landscape, during the course you will rebuild a section of wall in Lawson Park‘s gardens, sorting stone, building foundations and constructing the wall under Peter’s tuition.
Suitable for beginners or those looking to expand their skills, you’ll learn at a relaxed pace in a small group of 6 students gaining plenty of hands-on experience and one-to-one tuition.
Pre-booking is essential through the link below.
