Learn to make pottery without a wheel with Farmer’s Arms workshop manager Tom Philipson as he guides you through his own unique approach to ceramics.

With a background in cabinet making and furniture restoration, Tom uses a wood moulding technique to create press moulds made from scraps of plywood that would otherwise have been waste. He then carefully forms and finishes each piece by hand.

Over six-weeks you’ll craft your own ceramic bowls, tiles and boxes learning techniques including slab building (which then opens doors to creating other shapes of boxes) and gaining an understanding of how to use clay tools and basic building processes. You’ll leave with a grounded basic knowledge of ceramics and confidence to undertake future pottery projects.
