We love to share The Farmer’s Arms: Gatherings are what these historic inns were built for. And when you choose to hold your event with us you’re directly helping to support this historic building and all the staff, freelancers and suppliers that rely on it for their livelihoods.

With our flexible spaces, beautiful gardens and three fields The Farmer’s is an exceptional venue for a country wedding, a special family do or even a wood-fired pizza party for those hard to please teenagers. We also provide a sympathetic and easy to reach location for a memorial or a traditional wake.

Our self catering apartment and simple but comfy rooms are available as add-ons for on site stayovers and we can recommend other local accommodation too.

As you might expect from an arts organisation, Grizedale Arts has a long track record of holding unforgettable, magical events – from a gothic dinner of black-coloured food for artist Emily Wardill to a wedding under the trees in Grizedale Forest to a Battle of the Bands in a tent in Wales. Not much phases us. In fact, the weirder the better – though we can do a fantastic fine dining dinner too with our own venison, napkins, candles – the works.

We have wonderful hand made crockery, sculpture and objets d’art to embellish any event, and can provide extras like our own fresh flowers, live music and white linen too. And if you’re stuck for ideas that will make your day special then there’s nothing we like more than helping with those too.

Rates start at £10 pp for a buffet
We can offer especially competitive rates for events from Sunday to Thursday inclusive, as these are days when we are closed to the public. Likewise if you’re able to host your event during our quieter months (November – March).
The more time we have to plan your special event the better, so if you’ve dates in mind let’s start a conversation now.

Team Away Days

The Farmer’s Arms is a great location for a small to medium size team away day, training or CPD event. We have hosted clients from the National Trust to BAE, tailoring a bespoke day that included hands-on crafting in our workshops, talks from our creative team and an informal lunch. Exclusive use of the building and gardens is available. Our dining room has a video projector and can be configured for laptop-based presentations too.

Small Events / Regular Bookings

We especially welcome bookings from charities, CIC’s and community groups, for whom special rates apply. We regularly host the local poetry writers’ group, for example, and we can often offer food and drink alongside your event. Please contact us to discuss more.

Grizedale Arts is a registered charity, so the important revenue from event bookings goes directly into the ongoing maintenance and running costs of The Farmer’s Arms and into supporting the pub’s community programmes.
