Last month we said a fond farewell to Daniela who Last month we said a fond farewell to Daniela who joined us at the pub for a month long residency exploring her Lithuanian heritage through cooking

Dani’s stay culminated in a dinner to celebrate 35 years of Lithuanian independence- she engaged us with traditional music, excerpts from Jonas Mekas’ ‘Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania’, along with an introductory speech to honour Lithuanian resistance and freedom, remind us of its complex history, and celebrate it’s enduring cultural richness.

During her stay, Dani was busy processing pig’s heads to make some delicious terrine, along with pierogi, trotters, homemade seeded rye, cheese, curd buns and other Baltic treats.

Besides being an amazing host she was also an invaluable addition to the kitchen, helping us with the day to day running of the pub and offering so much spirit and energy.

Thank you Dani for your vibrant and thoughtful energy, and thanks to all who joined us for a memorable evening acknowledging and learning about Lithuanian cultural identity
