The Farmer’s Barn

The Farmer’s Barn is our luxury no-frills self-catering hostel perfect for solo and budget conscious travellers looking to explore the Lake District.

Situated above our vibrant Café, there are four individual rooms, each with their own unique character and different amenities. Thoughtfully decorated with original art and crafts from Grizedale Arts’ collection, guests can choose one of two single rooms with shared bathroom facilities, or a single ensuite or double ensuite room.

There is a cosy communal dining area where you can socialise with other guests, read, or play some of our vintage board games. The adjacent kitchen is well equipped with everything you’ll need to make hearty holiday food easily. There is a shared fridge freezer to store food and a dishwasher so you don’t even need to do your dishes.

All our guests are welcome to enjoy the inn’s outdoor spaces and can expect a warm welcome when they venture downstairs.

FACILITIES

The Farmer’s Barn is available for rental year-round. Rates vary seasonally and include heating / water, linens, cleaning materials, internet access, parking and use of the inn’s extensive gardens. Its centrally heated throughout, so it’s cosy in winter too.

Guests access The Farmer’s Barn via a separate entrance around the back of the inn (with a key safe so arrivals can be hassle-free), up a private staircase.

The shared kitchen is equipped with a small fridge / freezer, hob, microwave, dishwasher, cutlery, crockery, glassware, pans and cooking utensils. We also include the basics: salt and pepper, cooking oil, cleaning products, bin bags and dishwasher tabs.

Single Rooms with Shared Facilities:

Bedroom 1 is small but perfectly formed with a single bed, a sink unit, storage and views over the courtyard.

Bedroom 2 is spacious and bright, with a single bed, a sink unit, ample storage and views up the valley.

Bedrooms 1 and 2 share a generously sized bathroom with full sized bath, cubicle shower and W.C. and we provide the loo roll!

Ensuite Rooms:

Bedroom 3 is a single ensuite with bath and shower facilities, W.C., storage and open views across the Crake Valley.

Situated at the back of the Inn along the roadside Bedroom 4 is a double ensuite with shower facilities, W.C., storage and desk space to work.
