Salary: £15 p/hour

About the role
The Farmers Arms is seeking a practical, adaptable and community-minded person to help lead the food and hospitality offer at our rural arts pub and cultural venue in the Lake District.
This is a varied live/work role combining kitchen leadership, hospitality support and general operational coordination within a busy and evolving cultural venue environment.
The role will focus on helping establish a simple, welcoming and consistent food offer while supporting wider venue activity including events, workshops, festivals and visiting artists.
This is not a formal restaurant Head Chef role. The position would suit someone excited by flexible hospitality, collaborative working and rural cultural life.
Main Responsibilities
Kitchen & Food Coordination
- Help establish and deliver a simple, consistent food offer
- Coordinate kitchen prep and service working with our Café Teen young people project staff
- Support ordering and stock management
- Maintain food hygiene systems and kitchen cleanliness
- Coordinate occasional guest kitchens, food trucks or pop-up food activity
Hospitality & Venue Support
- Support wider hospitality activity during busy periods
- Help create a welcoming visitor experience
- Assist with event and festival food provision where required
- Work collaboratively with wider venue and programme staff including volunteers and casual event staff
- Work collaboratively with bar operators and venue users
- Monitor and respond to general enquiries (in person, by phone)
- Support with marketing, social media and documentation
Operational Support
- Be first point of contact for potential users of the space and site
- Assist with general day-to-day venue coordination where appropriate
- Support venue setup/reset during major events
- Contribute positively to the atmosphere and day-to-day life of the site
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience working in kitchens, hospitality or food service environments
- Practical and adaptable approach to work
- Ability to work flexibly within a small team
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Interest in rural/community/cultural environments
Desirable
- Food hygiene certification
- Experience coordinating small hospitality teams
- Experience within festivals, arts venues or community spaces
- Driving licence and own transport
