Celtic Fiddles are a group of experienced musicians from across South Cumbria. They have played together for many years in various local venues and ceilidh bands. Playing mostly fiddles, mostly Celtic music and mostly tunes, they are a regular monthly fixture in The Farmer’s Arms playing together on the second Friday next to the warmth of our lovely fireplace. Their music is rooted in tradition but always lively, warm, and full of character- perfect for a lively gathering, filling the pub with the rich, uplifting sound of traditional fiddles.
We’ve got the pizza and pints covered, and our wood-fired oven comes into its own as the evenings grow lighter- turning out proper, authentic pizzas made with our own in-house dough.
The oven itself is something quite special- built from local larch with copper detailing, its distinctive blackened finish created using a traditional Japanese weatherproofing technique. Designed by Hayatsu Architects and built with the help of architecture students from Central Saint Martins in London, it’s as much a piece of craft as it is a working kitchen.
Whether you come for the music, the food, or simply a relaxed evening by the fire, these are easy, welcoming nights—free to attend, with no booking required.
