Come and meet local poets and writers for an informal evening of poetry. Bring your own work, a favourite poem to share, or just come and listen. Sign up on the door for the open mic spots. Experienced writers and newcomers’ welcome.
This month’s guest readers are Kerry Darbishire and Sarah Littlefeather Demick.
Kerry Darbishire is a much-loved local poet. Brought up in Skelwith Bridge, her beautiful and moving poetry is deeply rooted in the Cumbrian landscape. She’ll be reading from her latest collection What Love Is, a meditation on love in all its forms and particularly her long relationship with her husband.
Sarah Littlefeather Demick was born in Toronto and raised in London by adopted parents. Her people are the Anishinaabe of Manitoulin Island, she will be reading from Lucky, her memoir of the journey from Canadian city-girl to living on a Cumbrian livestock farm, assimilation into a new culture and the rarity of being First Nations and English.
