Come and meet local poets and writers for an informal evening of poetry. Bring your own work, a favourite poem to share, or just come and listen. Sign up on the door for the open mic spots. Experienced writers and newcomers’ welcome.
This month sees the launch of the two latest pamphlets from The Damson Press. Ilse Pedler facilitates poetry events at The Farmer’s Arms as well as Dove Cottage Poets in Grasmere and is one of the editors of Bending the Arc a magazine of Thrutopian writing. Her pamphlet Failing Light explores the changes that occur over time in a relationship, what cements two people together and what there is to gain and lose.
Isobel Dixon is a Cumbrian poet, born and bred. She graduated from Lancaster University two years ago and volunteers for the Society of Young Publishers and Children’s Books North Network. Her pamphlet Cul-de-sacked is a collection that aims to grant dignity to the seemingly ordinary town of Barrow-in-Furness. Through snapshot moments, this collection celebrates the quiet intensities of life’s colloquial moments.
