Celebrating the farmer, poet and all things rural that Robert Burns might represent, our Burns Night Party is a cut above the rest!

As Wordsworth declared in homage:

‘Whose light I hailed when first it shone,

And showed my youth

How verse may build a princely throne

On humble truth’

After three weeks of closure for maintenance, The Farmer’s Arms is reopening on the 25th of January to enjoy a three course dinner of classic Scottish dishes made using the best local ingredients. The evening will also include:

  • Ceilidh, live band and caller (music and highland/barn dancing) from 8.30pm onwards
  • Cocktails on a highland theme, heather, honey, seaweed, salt, raspberries, whiskey, barley and malt
  • Poetry with Ilse Pedler and others – a homage to Norman Nicholson (rumour has it that The Farmer’s Arms was his favourite pub)
  • DJ Country Soul and the sound of the wild – interspersed throughout the evening

Cullen Skink – a traditional potato soup from the northeast of Scotland made with smoked haddock
