Moth Breakfast for National Meadows Day

Join us in our summer gardens to marvel at these unsung heroes of our natural environment! Moths are vital to pollinating plants and as food for birds, bats and more.

Did you know the UK boasts over 2500 species of moth compared to around 58 of butterflies? When expert Rob Pickett surveyed Lawson Park for us in 2025, he found 112 species! And who can resist their names such as the Common Footman or the Garden Tiger?

Rob will set up his moth lamps in various parts of the gardens the evening before the event, and by breakfast time he’ll likely have counted and logged them! We’ll supply lenses and magnifying glasses to study up close these incredible creatures, before they are safely re-released back into nature during the day. Advice will be on hand on planting your garden to be moth and butterfly friendly too.

Included in the event ticket is a tasty buffet breakfast made from our own produce: Expect bircher muesli with berries, tortilla, local apple juice and of course plenty of tea and coffee. There will be choices for most dietary needs but get in touch if you have any specific concerns.
