Wednesday Evening Pottery

Join Adam Sutherland over 5 weeks, for 2 x hours each week (max number of 10 students) to gain a comprehensive introduction to ceramics covering all the basics from clay to kiln.
You may be surprised to hear that Grizedale Arts director Adam Sutherland has been a potter for over fifty years! Beginning at school in Devon, Adam has worked with many noted architects and artists on bespoke ceramic commissions, as well as developing the pub’s popular ‘mocha ware’ decorated range on sale in our onsite shop. Adam began teaching ceramics in the 1980’s in London, and has continued to inspire and educate new and experienced potters ever since.
Each week, you’ll be introduced to different methods of working including coiling, slab building and throwing on the potters wheel. You’ll be guided through the making process from start to finish – building, finishing, decorating and glazing – taking home your finished products at the end of the course.
We also have 1hour drop-ins (paid onsite) for £6 every Friday 10-4pm.
