You know how it is….Friends and family come and

You know how it is….Friends and family come and see you at Easter and you get kind of stressed about what you’re going to cook. You’re looking around for a really special meal that you can all enjoy together… and, look no further! Candles, fresh flowers, a crackling log fire and the Stable Bar open from midday for drinks.

We’ve got this.

A choice of 3 options for each course and something for everyone, including vegan options. Local produce, carefully prepared and all from scratch always. And that includes our bread.

Menu:
Small bites sharing plate with delicious things such as Morecambe Bay shrimps on brioche toast, Leek and herb quiche (Fennel, wasabi, chervil, spring parsley)
Celeriac confit

Homemade focaccia, with our own Crake valley cider vinegar and olive oil

Starters:
Scallop gratin in the shell
The best ever prawn cocktail with peak salad (purslane, lambs lettuce, rocket)
Our famous Loaded Soup w/ wild garlic, seeds, seasonal herbs, croutons

Mains:
Venison Wellington forestier (Grizedale red deer, mushrooms, berry sauce)
Vegan mushroom Wellington (miso and herb sauce)
Spelt risotto with roast duck hoisin style sauce
All with a sharing plate of roast veg and spring greens

Puds:
Rhubarb tart tartin with homemade dairy or vegan ice cream
Stick toffee pud with homemade custard
Damson and chocolate roulade with chocolate sauce

2 sittings 1pm & 2pm, pre bookings only (no walk ins sorry) so get on it pronto!

Next week’s soup talker is Dr Kai Heron - Lecturer in Political Ecology at Lancaster University.

Kai writes, teaches, and researches about the thorny problem of transitioning away from today’s exploitative and ecologically destructive economy towards alternative, biodiverse, and democratic futures.

He is a co-editor of the De Gruyter Handbook of Degrowth (2024) and co-author of Radical Abundance: How to Win a Green Democratic Future (2025).

In this talk, Kai will introduce his book Radical Abundance, and discuss its proposals for bringing about a more just food system in the UK and beyond.
